You can include shortened URLs in your social posts.

22.Sep.2021

Did you know that you can include shortened URLs in your social posts?

For example, some social media platforms (like Twitter and LinkedIn) limit the number of characters you can include in your posts. Link shorteners like Bitly or Ow.ly can help you stay within those limits while sharing links.

They also make it easier to track clicks on your links, so you can see which posts perform best.

In fact, Bitly recently published a case study that showed adding a shortened URL in a tweet increased engagement by an average of 22%!

Beyond social posts, you can use link shorteners to reduce the length of links in your emails, presentations, and documents.

This is a great way to convey your message and increase engagement with your audience.

For example, adding a shortened URL in a tweet increased engagement by an average of 2%!

Shortened URLs work especially well for blogs because they allow you to include more information within the link itself. Now you can add as many keywords as you would like without sacrificing valuable character space because you don't have to count the number of characters in the URL.

By including a link shortener, you can also track click through rates and see which links perform best so that you can engage your audience even more.

Since you can't fit a link and keywords in the short character limit of all social media networks, you should use link shorteners to stay within your limits. Some popular ones include Bitly, Ow.ly/url, TinyUrl, and MatchURL. Bitly lets you track click through rates so that you can see which links perform best and optimize your social media strategy accordingly. It also publishes case studies like one showing that adding a shortened URL in a tweet increased engagement by an average of 22%.

Using URL shortening services for social media networks saves valuable character space but still allows people to see the links you share and your brand name.

Shortened links are often placed in social media posts to include more information while staying within the character limit because, unlike longer URLs, shortened links are small enough to fit the stated count without the need for ellipses at the end. Some social networks allow you to attach a hashtag instead of an @name when sharing content, but if you use too many hashtags or try to cram them into your post it can make your post look cluttered. That's why link shorteners are useful.

While they don't let you include as many characters as a longer link, neither do hashtags and @names.

A Twitter post is limited to 280 unique characters, which doesn't leave much room for the URL or extra hashtags. Using a link shortener means you can squeeze in an additional link or two without going over your limit. If you decide to share content on LinkedIn, it's possible that only 700 of those words will be available for your description because of its character limits (and this limit doesn't even take into account the fact that URLs typically display with 22-32 characters). Link shorteners help here too because they remove excess URL information to fit within this limit while allowing you to include more and hashtags if necessary.

So, in conclusion: Link shorteners can help you fit more information in your social and website content by removing excess link data. Remember to only use one at a time and choose the right URL shortener for your post based on its intended audience and intended goal. We hope this article helped! :)
