YOURLS is an open-source URL shortener and tracking tool, helping you make money from your links. Unlike many other link shorteners that try to follow the viral link structure pattern just for ranking higher in search engine rankings and show ads, YOURLS takes a completely different approach: we aim at making it easy for webmasters to set up their own custom URL shortener and gain clicks statistics on their links.

YOURLS is released under the GNU GPL v3 license, with full support of SSL encryption (https) and IPv6 addresses. You can install YOURLS freely on your private server or using our one-click installer which will set up everything automatically for you!

We provide detailed installation instructions if you need help getting started: http://yourls.org/documentation

YOURLS is written in PHP and uses MySQL for database storage. You can configure YOURLS to use whatever template you want, but we recommend using the default one which comes with this package (see screenshots).

We also provide a free SSL certificate if you would like your links to be encrypted. Simply activate the app during installation, OR run these commands once installed:

cd /path/to/yourls/app

php secure_install.php

This will install an SSL certificate in .htaccess for Apache or nginx config file for Nginx. We do not support custom templates yet, but this should not matter since all links are stored in MySQL anyway.

We want YOURLS to stay simple and lean, that's why we published a full list of features along with their current status in our documentation: http://yourls.org/features

That said, we're always open for suggestions! If you think there is a feature missing from YOURLS, let us know in the comments or submit an issue on GitHub: https://github.com/YOURLS/YOURLS/issues

It's now publicly available at yourlink.com/YOURLS, and it will remain that way until you decide otherwise (by deleting the file). Your visitors can now share links using your root domain name (i.e., without any subdomain part), thanks to a default setting in YOURLS! You can also change this setting if you want. If you need help, follow our instructions at http://yourls.org/documentation/ or post a comment below.

You can also delete this file (or change its name to for example index.php_off). Your visitors will now be able to visit your link using http://yourlink.com, but without the shortener info anymore (i.e., no click statistics will be recorded anymore by YOURLS). You can now install YOURLS on your own web server and start adding your links manually or use a WordPress plugin !
