Why Should You Use a Link Shortening Tool? #matchurl

11.Oct.2021

Free link shortening tools are one of the most useful pieces of software out there. They make it easy to share links, track traffic sources, and shorten really long URLs. If you want to understand why you should use a shortener tool or how they work, then keep reading.

Before we go into the specifics on why to use a URL shortener, let’s review what exactly these programs actually do. A link shortener takes an existing web address (the URL) and turns it into another that is shorter in length but still points back to the original address. This makes them ideal for social media posts or anywhere where your browser doesn’t allow you to post very long URLs. Plus, since so many free services are available, there’s no good reason not to use one.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the advantages of using these tools for sharing links on social media or running ad campaigns.

URL shorteners are also great for content marketing. This is especially true if you have a lot of different projects going on at once, but don’t want to link to each one separately. A single shortened URL can easily direct people to all of your different projects or pieces of content. They are also great for tracking the success of individual posts since you will be able to see who clicked your link and where they came from.

Finally, these tools make it easier for anyone to engage with your posts and share them online. If someone wants to do this by right-clicking and copying, go ahead and click “OK!” but in most cases, they won’t even know that option exists. Shorter URLs take up less space and are much easier to share. Since they have a concise message, your followers will be more likely to retweet or repost them without feeling overwhelmed by a bulk of text.

As you can probably tell from this post, URL shorteners are a great way to save time and make it easier for your connections online to share your content. While some have been known to track traffic, you aren’t giving away any sensitive information when using these programs. In fact, most tools won’t even ask for an email address or contact details in order for you to start using their service!

And since so many free services exist, there’s really no good reason not to use one. If you are looking for a new tool to try out, check out our list of the top 10 link shorteners available right now.

I just read about the new Google tool that creates QR Codes for websites in real time. The intent is marketing. That said, I can envision some interesting applications for students to use these QR Codes as notes/links to text materials in electronic textbooks. Would love your thoughts on this one! ~ Courtney Stairs http://blog.woodenshoe.com
