What are some of the best URL shorteners?

There are quite a few options for url shorteners. Depending on what you need, one or another may be better suited for your use case. We've outlined some of the best below:

Bitly is probably the most popular option right now, and offers analytics on clicks, etc., but it also uses some tracking cookies that can slow down websites (although they claim this has since been fixed).

I like Bitly because they offer an API for developers to work with. They don't put any limit on their links either.

Another feature I like about bitly is the ability to make custom URLs; i.e., say you wanted http://www.example.com/ABC, you could make it http://bit.ly/1hbxxJ3.

Rebrandly is pretty similar to Bitly, but they're more focused on brands managing their URLs across social media platforms with a simple dashboard that lets you see your stats at the touch of a button with no cookie tracking or use limitations.

Short .io is an interesting one, because it offers a free plan for 1 shortened URL, which is unlimited traffic + 1 custom subdomain. It also offers a paid plan for more short URLs.

Shortio has pretty good analytics, and you can set expiration dates on your links too. It doesn't offer an api though, so it isn't as good if you're trying to develop something with it.

Linkly essentially lets you take any URL on the web and shorten it using either their custom link or by creating a QR code that will redirect people to the original source of the content (https://linklr7hgm8c1p4xo6s7rjtj32a2so3na6uzhejpmj5d88.b32.i2p)

Linkly has a free plan, and charges $10/month for additional features such as redirects. It doesn't appear to have an api either, although it does track analytics like most other link shorteners do.

ClickMeter also offers a free version with limited URLs and traffic (unlimited clicks and 1 url), and plans that range from $12-60/month depending on the number of URLs and traffic.

Their analytics are a bit more advanced, and they offer an api for developers to work with as well.

Pixelme is another free option, but you can add your own domain name (along with several other features). It doesn't appear to have any way to track data though, so it would be hard for marketers to see how their audience found the link in the first place.

Pixelme also allows you to create coupons that let anyone who uses them get a discount on your product or service in exchange for spreading the word about what you do online!

Cutt.ly is another popular option, and it offers an API for developers as well as free analytics (customizable date range). They also offer special coupons that help you link to your site for free if people share it on facebook or twitter.

Cutt.ly offers both custom URLs and QR codes as well, which is nice if you're looking for a separate service just for that purpose.

SmartURL lets you create custom urls if needed, but it also has some other cool features like the ability to track clicks on your shortened link based on location (only available with paid plans). It can also automatically shorten any link through their API or dashboard by referencing Wappwolf's gliphy URL shortener article . You can read more about SmartURL here .

This article discusses the best URL shorteners. Many people use them in their social media posts to share links without worrying about character limit restrictions. There are several services that allow you to shorten URLs, but this article focuses on the best of the group. The 7 companies discussed offer both free options with premium plans available, and all have some type of analytics tools available when you sign up for a plan. Shortening URLs is also helpful when sending traffic through an affiliate link, since there may be cookie tracking limitations based on clicks vs visitors coming from your website to theirs. Having a shortened URL allows you to track how much traffic comes directly from sharing your link online whether it's through social media or email campaigns.

The list below looks at several popular URL shortening services available today, and the features offered by each. Bitly is one of the more well-known brands when it comes to link shorteners, and they offer an API so you can add their service directly into your own website if need be. Short.io

is another popular service that offers a free plan with custom URLs and QR codes. Linkly

has a simple dashboard interface but requires coding knowledge to access their API. ClickMeter's

free plan is very stripped down (with limited tracking and number of clicks), but they do offer plans that include custom urls and redirects for $12-$60/month depending on how many URLs use or traffic monthly that needs to be tracked. Pixelme

is a free service that lets you create coupons and share them on social media to get more traffic for your site (they also offer automatic URL shortening, but this requires a paid plan). Cutt.ly

offers free analytics but requires premium plans to use their own custom URLs or QR codes. SmartURL is another useful tool with special coupons available if used through certain social media channels. You can read more about them here .
