Question: I've noticed that you can change links on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. How do you go about doing it? Is this something other social networks allow? Any tips for updating your link listings in one fell swoop would be very much appreciated! Thanks! - Anil ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Answer: The answer to the question is yes . Sometimes, when a page has been taken down, if you still have access to the destination URL (and can access the file), then people will swap the link back to their old one. If someone else was hosting the page at some point, however, they may not reinstate your old address.

Some social networks allow you to change links. As of the writing of this article, here are the instructions for changing links on Facebook, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter:

Facebook: Go to your old URL on Facebook and click "Suggest a correction," then follow the prompts. (Screen grab)  Google+: Visit your profile and press edit , then add your new link in link box under Profile Information . Click Save Changes when finished. (Screen grab) Instagram: Click Settings > Edit Profile > Change Website . Enter your desired new link and click Save Changes when finished. (Screen grab) LinkedIn: Go to your profile, then open the More menu and select Edit Profile . Click Add a Website , then enter your new link and click Save Changes when finished. (Screen grab) Twitter: Visit your Twitter profile > Settings & privacy > Your social websites > Add a website . Enter your new link and click Save Changes when finished. NOTE: You can only add or remove websites which you have added via twitter.com or a third-party application that uses the Twitter API.

Google+ allows you  the old one if it's still accessible, but check with the administrator of [ http://weheartpuppies.tumblr.com/ ](http://weheartpuppies.tumblr.com/) before taking that address down!

Another option is to ask your friends to delete any previous posts linking to the old page and just start fresh with the new link. If you're afraid of asking for this much work, then don't forget that if someone has linked to you, all they have to do is remove their original URL in order for your new one to take effect everywhere else it's posted.

How to Change Links in Social Networks

Steps Method 1 of 4: Facebook In order to change your URL on Facebook, hover the cursor over the "Account" tab located in the upper-right corner of your screen. Click "Account Settings." In the resulting page, click "General." As shown in this image , there should be a "Website" field located at the bottom of the page. Enter your new URL into that field and click "Save Changes." Method 2 of 4: Google+ Go to your profile on Google+. Hover your cursor over the arrow next to Edit Profile. Select Add Website or Edit . Make sure you are on the right site (you would not want to change all your links if some were correct). Enter your new link and hit save changes . Method 3 of 4: LinkedIn On LinkedIn, go to Settings > Change email settings > Manage how people contact me . You will see some fields below including Add another website . Method 4 of 4: Twitter Visit https://twitter.com/settings/account and select the Change Site or Add Site option under Website . Enter your new link in the text field that appears and click Save Changes .
