How to install an SSL Certificate on your branded URL |

14.Aug.2021

At ResellerClub, we take our platform's security seriously,
and our making constant improvements to its core features.
As a part of enhancing the security of our platform,
we have converted all the partially branded URLs to https.
Now, in order to go ahead and fully brand your
Supersite, Partnersite and Control Panel,
we have made some modifications to your Control Panel.
In this video, I am going to talk about the changes as
well as take you through the process of securing your URLs.
The entire process of securing your branded URL
is divided into 5 phases:
- Pointing the Domain Name to the new records,
- Purchasing a Digital Certificate,
- Generating the CSR and Private Key,
- Issuing the certificate,
and- Installing the certificate on the server.
In order to point the Domain Name to the
https enabled servers, we have modified the records
that were used for branding.
You need to click on Settings,
- Branding settings,
- Supersite and Partnersite,
and scroll down to find the new record that is provided.
Incase you have already branded the URL, then
you need to modify the IP address,
else you can brand your URL by pointing them to the
new IP address mentioned on the screen.
Similarly, all the records for the Partnersites,
and Control Panel needs to be updated with the
new records provided in your respective section.
Once the records are modified, we need to
wait for 4 to 6 hours for the
propogation to complete.
In the current panel you can see the branded URL as
yourwebsite.org.in
In order to add the records we first check
the name servers of the Domain Name,
and then add the respective records in the
current DNS zone.
Domain name- yourwebsite.org.in is currently
using the name servers of orderbox.
Hence, I have added the records in the
orderbox DNS panel.
Similarly, all the records for Supersite, Partnersite,
and Control Panel needs to be added in the current
DNS zone of the Domain Name.
Once the records are added or modified, you need to
wait for 4- 6 hours for the propogation to complete.
Now in order to purchase the Digital Certificate,
you need to go back to the branding settings.
Click on Settings,
- Branding settings,
- Supersite and Partnersite,
and- Click on Buy Comodo SSL.
This will now redirect you to the express cart
from where you can complete your purchase.
You can also opt to purchase the certificate
from a third party provider.
We do provide multiple certificates to secure your domain name.
To secure a single URL you can either
purchase a Positive or a Comodo SSL certificate.
If you have more than 1 fully branded URL,
for example subdomains, we recommend
you to purchase a Positive Wildcard Certificate.
Incase you are using multiple domains to brand your URL,
then you can purchase multiple Positive or
Comodo SSL certficates.
Once the certificate is purchased, you need to get it
issued by the certificate authority using the CSR and
Private Key.
A CSR or a Certificate Signing Request is a block of
encrypted text that is generated on the server.
It contains several details that will be included
in the certificate such as your organization name,
common name, locality, and country.
In order to generate the CSR you need to click
on Settings,
- Branding Settings, - Supersite and Partnersite,
Scroll down and - Click on Generate the Private Key and CSR.
This will redirect you to the SSL Manager.
This is the panel from where you will be able to
generate the CSR, Private Key and also
install the certificate on the server.
In order to login, you need to first mention
your Reseller ID, Username and your Password.
The common name is a parameter where you need to
mention the domain name for which
the certificate needs to be issued.
If you have purchased a Positive/ Comodo SSL,
then you need to mention the common name
as your “domain name.com”. This will get the certificate
issued for the Domain Name as well as
www.domainname.com.
In case of a Wildcard Certificate you need to
mention the common name as *.domainname.
This will issue the certificate that can secure all your sub domains.
In this scenario, since I have the URL as yourwebsite.org.in ,
and I have purchased a Wildcard Certificate,
hence, I will mention it as *.yourwebsite.org.in .
Click on generate.
This will generate the CSR and Private Key.
It is always recommended to copy the Private Key and the CSR
as this tool can be used to generate multiple CSR and Private Key.
In order to copy the Private Key and the CSR you can
click on copy, and paste it on a notepad.
At any given point of time,
only the latest CSR and Private Key will be displayed on the panel.
Since the CSR and Private Key is generated,
lets go ahead and issue the certificate.
The issuance of the certificate comprises of 2 steps:
1)Providing the CSR and
2)Completing the verification process.
If the certificate is purchased with a Third Party Provider,
then you need to copy the CSR and provide them the details.
If the certificate is purchased with us, then you need to
click on - Products,
- List all orders,
- Click on the certificate that you have purchased,
and click on- Issue Certificate.
Here you need to provide the CSR that was generated.
Once the CSR is provided, click on - Next,
and this will ask you for the Verification Email address.
This has to be an admin email address of the domain name
or you can create any 1 of the predefined
email ids that are provided and select them.
Click on Send application to Certificate authority
and now the certificate provider will send you an email,
with the verification code.
You need to now check your inbox for the email that was
sent by Comodo. Click on the email id and copy the
code that is provided.
Click on next and this completes the verification process.
You'll now see 2 emails that are sent by Comodo.
Click on those emails and you will find the
certificate that can be downloaded on your local system.
As you can see, the certificate has been now downloaded to my local system.
I'll now go ahead and unzip the file.
And I'll find the certificate that is required to be
installed in the control panel. Here, I have
4 files out of which, 1 is your certificate and the
remaining are the CA bundle files.
The certificate size will vary depending on the certificate provider.
Now in order to install the certificate,
you need to go back to your
Reseller Control Panel,
Click on Settings,
- Branding settings,
- Supersite and Partnersite,
and now click on the last step that is
Upload your Private Key, SSL certificate
and CA bundle.
This will again redirect you back to the
SSL Manager Page.
This interface will now show you all the
branded URLs created under your panel.
You can click on the respective URL,
and provide the certificate details to complete
the installation process.
Here you need to mention your Common Name,
Private Key, SSL certificate
and CA bundle.
As you can see, I have added the Private Key,
SSL certificate, and the CA bundle
and now Click on Save.
This will save the certificate on the server.
For Wildcard certificate since the certificate is
already generated, you can copy and paste the same details
for all the other URLs that you see.
Incase you have purchased an individual certificate
for different domain names,
then you need to repeat the same process and
complete the installation for all the URLs.
Once the certificate is installed on the server,
you need to wait for a minimum of 48 to 72 hours
for the redirection from http to https
to work.
So now that you know about how to secure your
fully branded URL,
I would request you to get this process
completed at the earliest.
