Fix broken page links

Fix broken page links

23.Oct.2021

A few days ago,  http://www.reddit.com/r/Pokemongodev  changed the links on their page to point to a new domain (instead of  http://www.pokemongohub.net  they now point to   http://www.redditmedia.com ). This caused all broken images throughout this blog and other websites around the web that rely upon images hosted on their CDN.

Since I can't edit or change any entries in the WordPress database (because only moderators should be able to do that), I decided to implement my own fix for this problem by creating a small tool that will automatically redirect old links to new ones using simple regular expressions .

All you need to do is go to the page where the broken images are being displayed, search for all links that point to *.pokemon-sunmoon.org/* and replace them with new ones (found on the same pages).

For example, if you need to fix some images on this blog, you would first open one of articles on this website where images are not opening correctly, then use CTRL+F (or Command+F on Mac) to find all these links:

After finding all bad links like those above, simply click anywhere inside of that block of text and press CTRL+H (or CMD+H), which will bring up the "Replace" dialog. Use it to replace all old URLs with new ones provided below:

This should fix all broken images that had their links changed by  http://www.redditmedia.com/  and get them working again, without manually downloading each image and placing it in the right directory.

IMPORTANT: Always make sure to back up your backups and the original files before making any changes.

If you can't get this to work, please read below for help:

For those who are having issues with the above tool or are too far past their time-of-use/TOU to use it anymore, there is a more manual way of doing it. First, go on Reddit's Pokemon page ( http://www.redditmedia.com/r/pokemongodev ) and find all images that won't load correctly after the domain change (for example here ). You will need these image links later in order to fix them.

Now go on Google Image Search  or another similar service where you can upload files and find these images. Download each image that you need on your computer and then upload them back on Reddit's same Pokemon page ( http://www.redditmedia.com/r/pokemongodev ).

Now simply CTRL+F (or Command+F on Mac) for all of those found images and replace their URLs with the ones found earlier on Google Image Search:

This should fix all broken images located throughout this blog and other websites around the web. If you're still having problems, please comment below or contact me directly .

Thanks for reading, I hope this helps!

Also, please note that all images hosted on   http://pokemongohub.net  are still working and will continue to do so unless they too decide to move their domain name somewhere else in the future.
