Creating your emoji link

Creating your emoji link

14.Sep.2021

How are these links created? A small tool in JavaScript, called emojify.js, takes any URL and makes it emoji-ready by replacing certain chars with emoji-related code blocks. The source code is in the GitHub repo , if you want to tweak it or export your own version.

You can see that the end result of this is a short URL starting with .ws rather than .com/something, which is another issue for another article.

A few more examples:

Note that emojify cannot shorten URLs containing slashes because slashes are not valid characters in emoji namespaces. So

1. Just create a new console on your browser and paste the link to it

2. Run the following command in your console:

There you go, heres is how it looks like when u enter this code into your browser console:

3. Now copy the final link and paste it wherever you want, or just click on it to check out how it looks like

. You can try it in your Facebook page or whatever other place you think would look good with emoji links.

4. If you don't like this color, there are many ways to change it, but I recommend just changing the code itself by changing the variables in that link. Maybe making emojis red or green or whatever you find best looking

5. Keep in mind that these links cannot be shortened with bitly and other similar services, but if u use any browser console (chrome/firefox) u can easily shorten them :)

An emoji-only link, as the name suggests, is a Uniform Resource Locator with an emoji domain—for example,

er.jmgo.com or jijiji.ws

which you can make

by going to emojify which will give you a short version of

meaning this articles link: https://www.gsmlandwebguide.com/emoji-links . Emojify is simple and easy to use tool which gives u all that's needed for creating ur own custom emoji links! Just open it in your browser and paste the link u want shorter on top of the box. Then click on "shorten link" and there you go ;)

Wooow...this is very nice . U really helped me out to create my own Emoji links :) Thanks a lot!!

Hi, just wanted to say that the emojify tool only works in Chrome, not Firefox. Also sometimes it doesn't shorten URLs correctly which can be annoying. Other than that great solution! Keep up the good work :). I'm trying this out today :)

While testing this code didn't work for me at all :(

This is amazing..it works perfectly for me..just type any page's short url in Emojify and copy your emoji code...very simple! Thanx!!!

I love this so much! It works with most websites, including the one I made an emoji-only website for! It is truly amazing, thanks so much!

It didn't work on my browser (chrome)

emojify only works in chrome - Firefox does not support this kind of stuff :) But you can also use your browsers development tools to do the same thing. For example with firefox u could right click on the emojify link -> inspect element -> console tab -> enter 'a = location.href' and it wil show you what's after location.href :) So now u can copy it and byebye bitly :D

This was very helpful!I have a site where people can go to check if their phone number is available. I've been using bit.ly to create short links, but since there isn't a way to shorten with emoji domain names, it doesn't look very professional. Now I can use my own custom link! Thanks for the article :)

Thanks for this awesome post ..it help me alot .

Wow nice , i was looking for something like this , keep up the good work ;)

I'm having trouble getting this to work on firefox. On Internet Explorer it works perfectly, but not on Firefox. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

You are right - Mozilla does not support them :( And also if you want your own custom color make sure u edit code cuz emojify gives all that's needed. For example if u want ur emoji link to be green just edit i.e. "var color = 'green'", or change colors in url itself like this:

yes it is very helpful..thanx for this nice article :)

This helped me out alot, I was looking for something like this to use on my site...thanks again :D

Hi mate , kindly could you please help me out with a small issue .. I have been following your site from the past few days nd so far so good , got a phone number directory website where I am using this emoji link generator to create shortened links..However, the problem is that when I try to use them in social sharing buttons or galleries then they appear as long URLs which make the overall website look unattractive.

Thanks for this article...it was very helpful ..but there are some things I need help with..First off, the code only works on chrome browsers actually..And second thing is that when I type any short url it doesn't take me anywhere.. :( So can anyone please help??
