A website is a collection of web pages containing information about a particular subject or organization. A website may refer to an entire website or part of a website (a single page). A website may be accessible via a public Internet Protocol (IP) network, such as the Internet , or a private local area network (LAN), by referencing its IP address. Websites are stored on one or more Web servers . Some websites require user registration or membership. Visitors often access websites using a relevant Uniform Resource Locator (URL) address.

TinyURL helps protect against "phishing", or other attacks that try to steal your personal information. The website you are trying to reach believes in security as much as you do - they are using TinyURL to ensure their visitors get where they need t

If you're like most people, you use your email address as your username on every website that requires one (and sometimes I'm sure it feels like all of them do). While having an account on pretty much every site may seem convenient, there are definitely some places where using the same login information over and over again could actually put your personal information (like passwords) at risk if one of those websites gets hacked. So if you're looking to start beefing up your online security, I'd recommend the process of signing up for a new email account just for websites that require one. That way, you can keep track of your various login information without havi

TinyURL is one of the most popular URL shortening service around. It allows people to share long links with shorter URLs which are easier to tweet through Twitter services or paste on Facebook walls. With over 20 million visitors each month, TinyURL is also among the biggest URL management solutions online today. Today, TinyURL announced its support for Bitly's custom links feature.

This addition to TinyURL's service allows Bitly users to map custom short URLs to existing keywords on the web. Any search term can be used for this purpose, while any number of new links can be created with a specific mix of words and phrases. As an example, "gmail" could become gmai1 or 11l . A shortened link doesnt replace the original keyword but it is added so that typing in the address bar shows both options. The only catch is that you need the bitly account (for now). Webmasters who want to take advantage of this particular service also get their own analytics which will help them figu

In an attempt to make sharing links easier, TinyURL has made a pretty cool update that will be sure to please Twitter users. The new service means that when you Tweet a link, the URL of your tweet becomes a short domain name instead of the long and messy URL you normally see when tweeting from your favorite client. This allows for up to 22 characters in the TinyURL domain name resulting in much better readability

Background information: Tinyurl is a free URL shortening service which also supports generating custom URLs with keywords/phrases. It's been around for years and is among one of the biggest online today.
