ShortURL is the URL shortener custom tool that allows you to create shorter links. You can use it for Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, forums and many social networks that support this service of sharing content on the Internet.
The main purpose of Shorturl is to reduce long URL into a smaller one. This small link usually appears in written communication or post comment on some websites. When you click on this type of link, it will open the webpage with shortened URL inside an iFrame which loads from our servers. If you are using our service for sending links instead of text messages, it would be wise to check the "Wrap links" box in order not to break hyperlinks when your message gets forwarded or shared on some other social networks.
ShortURL uses the HTTPS protocol and data encryption in order to protect your privacy and security. This way, you can avoid phishing attacks and unwanted interceptions of personal information by hackers. That is why we encourage our users not to paste their passwords or other sensitive login details into these shortened links, especially if they expect that it will be used outside of ShortURL. The SSL certificate guarantees that your data won't be available for third parties which means that only the sender and receiver could view it.
Here are some examples of websites where short URLs are supported: Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Google+, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Pinterest, Xing… It also works with long URLs from web 2.0s like YouTube, Google Docs, Dropbox, WordPress…
To summarize the above, ShortURL is an online tool that can be used to create shorter links for sharing on social networks. You can use it to reduce long URLs from Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and other popular sites on the Internet. All you need to do is just to paste the long URL into our web form. If you have any questions about this service or would like to share your experience with us then please feel free to contact us via our admin panel.
You can also check your clicks statistics page to see how many times has the shortened link been clicked.
This tool is compatible with smartphones, tablets and desktop computers as well as all types of browsers including Microsoft Edge, Safari, Opera, Google Chrome…
Hope you enjoy using our service! If so share it on social networks and let us know your feedback in the comments section bellow.
I noticed the article has a lot of errors and should be rewritten before replacing the current version. --Graf Zahl (talk) 08:26, 20 October 2016 (UTC) The amount of info about this tool is rather small - I've tried using it to reduce links for Facebook and other social networks but it doesn't work well with all sites. In fact, you can use Bitly instead as it supports the same services but offers a free version as well. You'd also need to create an account or sign in with one from Facebook or Twitter which means your sharing content to third parties. --Dgbrt (talk) 18:56, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
This is interesting! perhaps it would be better to mention some of the problems I had with this tool...I tried using it on Facebook but didn't work, so i tested it out on Twitter and even using an app password (so that my login details were not seen) the links created by ShortURL never worked. So then I tested many other similar apps like Bitly and Goo.gl but all failed except for one app called "Wliht" which actually worked perfectly! The problem with Wliht is that you have to install their software which I wasn't keen on doing, plus they also force you to create an account before you can use their service, but this is certainly a very good tool if you are looking for an alternative to ShortURL and I would certainly recommend it.

Someone plz fix this asap as I am currently using this as my primary source of info as the wiki is broken beyond repair due to vandalism. It is also one of the most important parts of the wiki so please prioritize fixing it before anything else. -- Kajisaras (talk) 10:07, 14 October 2018 (UTC) I agree! --Pokechu22 (talk) 16:13, 15 October 2018 (UTC) Also agree! While not a priority right now, I will eventually try to work on this section once we have some free time on our hands. --ProgVal (talk) 19:55, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
I've been using this tool for a long time now and I can't even begin to tell you how many times it has come in handy. I use it all the time for sharing pictures, articles or links on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and recommend it to anyone who asks about online URL shorteners - there just isn't another one that comes close! The only problem with it is that some of the services they support aren't very popular and there's always room for improvement but as far as I know this website doesn't collect any data from its users so your information remains safe which is very important nowadays.

Hi guys! I'm glad you like my service. Bitly also provides a paid account which gives you some extra features but our free plan is enough for most users so feel free to use it without paying anything. If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to let me know via my admin panel. --ShortURL Administrator 22:52, 24 October 2018 (GMT) Bitly also has an app for iOS & Android which lets you shorten links on your smartphone using QR codes - it's very quick and easy! As of today Bitly supports over 438 websites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus… You can find the full list on their website here https://goo.gl/Auzf5s – ShortURL Administrator 00:03, 25 October 2018 (GMT)
I have used this site for a long time now and can't recall a single instance where it didn't work as expected. I use it often to quickly send interesting articles or pictures that friends might enjoy to places like Facebook or Twitter and the shortened links always work fine. The only problem is that not all of the services they support are very popular which means there isn't really any competition between URL shorteners so their service could be improved by adding more variety but other than that it's a great website with an intuitive interface and if you don't mind giving up some of your data then you're going to love using ShortURL
